Skier Safety

1. All skiers can benefit by increased safety. The basic requirement for safety is control - control of  the skis and then control of direction. Most skiers try to turn their skis or to "steer" them through a turn. Any twisting/turning force applied to the ski will have the opposite from the desired effect - it will stop the necessary forces from building up against the ski and will prevent it from working.
2. Patience is required to overcome the temptation to force the ski around. Most skiers rush the start of each turn/arc by forcing the ski around. Patience delivers the goods.

3. The complete beginner is the most vulnerable and if the very first turns/arcs are taught correctly, then there should be no turning of the "outside" ski. If the ski is turning you then you are safe - otherwise you are at risk.
