Skiing Moguls

1. Bumps are a great opportunity to sharpen up skiing skills. Skis have a mechanical pivoting quality which contributes towards shaping the bumps. The bumps then work hand-in-glove with the skis to make pivoting very easy.
2. The key to good bump skiing lies in quick and active fore/aft movement of the feet. When running, the foot stops on the ground with each stride, then accelerates rapidly. Most people enter bumps with their legs and feet static - hence they have trouble.

3. The action of the feet and legs corresponds closely to cycling - BACKWARDS - Pushing down and forwards into the troughs and pulling up and backwards on the crests.
4. It is imperative to remain on the heels - especially in bumps. This allows the knees to move in fornt of the body during compression on the crests. This must not be confused with leaning against the back of the boots - which is a common fault with out-of -control bump skiers.
