Ski Travel Insurance

Travel insurance is essential on holiday - even if you are organising your own flight. You are not covered automatically by airlines or railways if your luggage is lost - so be prepared ! Here are some essential considerations :

1. Make sure that you are fully covered for injury, illness and re-patriation costs.
2. This should also cover all forms of rescue from the mountains.
3. Ensure that your insurance will be accepted by the rescue and medical services of the country that you are visiting and that you will not be obliged to pay there and then recover your costs later.
4. Third party cover is also essential incase you injure someone else (especially for snowboarders).
5. Compensation for lost time off work / lost earnings and for the holiday itself are other major considerations.
6. Reasonable cover for replacing stolen or damaged equipment and the expense of hiring.
7. Compensation for delays and inconveniences in travel - including avalanche en-route to the resort.
8. Compensation for missed ski lessons  (Reimbursement is only possible from schools in the mountain is closed).
